Il dipinto mostra il cosiddetto “ rosso tower” un campanile tardo gotico autoportante con una base in mattoni gotici , uno dei punti di riferimento della città di halle . si trova sulla stessa piazza della marktkirche ( la chiesa a sinistra sullo sfondo ) che feininger scelse come motivo nel suo lavoro . Il quadrato è raffigurato come un angolo così fortemente distorto che sembra essere stato piegato nel piano dell'immagine . È circondato su tutti i lati da alti edifici . All'interno di questa impostazione , la torre unisce stabilità e aggressività . Per sottolineare la sua monumentalità , Kirchner scelse una scala più grande per la torre che per i suoi dintorni
